Ambassador to Afghanistan Eikenberry says "No to escalation."
Senior Civilian Official Matthew Hoh says "I quit" to US policy in Afghanistan.
The California Democratic Party says "US Out of Afghanistan."
Our allies UFPJ, IVAW, Courage to Resist, and others say "No to escalation, and bring the troops home."
Congresswoman Barbara Lee, in a press conference at the Oakland Federal Building, says "Let's cut off funding another escalation of war in Afghanistan."
You've taken action on Afghanistan. You've signed petitions, sent emails, gone to town halls of your local congressperson, held signs at rallies and vigils, called and/or visited members of Congress. You've probably already seen some or most of the documentary "Rethink Afghanistan," or maybe you've been reading books on Afghanistan in our Pink Pages Book Club. You may know someone who has been deployed to Afghanistan. You may even have been to Afghanistan yourself!
That's why we're contacting you: because we know you not only care about the horrific tragedy in Afghanistan, but because you take action.
We're asking you to take these three effective actions today:
Together we can: oppose and end Obama's war in Afghanistan!
- Call President Obama at 202-456-1111 and say, "No surge; bring the troops home and take care of them when they get here."
- Call your member of Congress and ask her/him to support HR 3699, Congresswoman Barbara Lee's bill to prohibit any increase in the number of members of the United States Armed Forces serving in Afghanistan.
- Should President Obama decide to escalate the war in Afghanistan, groups across the country will protest the day of, or the day after his announcement. Look for CODEPINK actions here and UFPJ's coalition listings here
- Finally, use our call-in report back form and let us know that you took action!
