Dear Supporter,
Get ready.
Cheney’s memoir, In My Time, hits the bookstores on August
30. It’s up to us to provide some context, lest readers
forget that Cheney tried to justify attacking Iraq by using intelligence
that the Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee later labeled
"unsubstantiated, contradicted, or even non-existent."
On August 26, 2002, Cheney led off this fraudulent propaganda campaign,
telling an audience in Nashville: “Simply stated, there is
no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction.
There is no doubt he is amassing them to use against our friends,
against our allies, and against us."
This was
no mistake. It was a bald-faced lie that has brought death and
destruction. On behalf of the 4,500 U.S. troops killed in Iraq,
the many times as many wounded, the hundreds of thousands of Iraqis
killed, and the five million displaced from their homes, we need
to ensure that those who pick up Cheney’s book have a fair
shot at the truth.

Inserting bookmarkers
and moving books is legal, it’s fun and it will make a difference
in how people view Cheney’s book and his whitewashing of history.
Or better yet, show
up at one of Cheney’s book events and call
for a citizen's arrest, which in the past have caused
Rice, Bush and Rove to cancel or rearrange their appearances.
Cheney pushed
us into war, but Barack Obama has the same war addiction. Watch
CODEPINK's clever "intervention" outside the White House.
