On Wednesday, Eugene Mayor Kitty Piercy submitted the War Dollars Home Resolution for review at the mayors' conference.
More Mayors Wanted to Co-Sponsor
Our work isn't over! Our goal is to get as many mayors as possible to co-sponsor the resolution before the annual mayors' meeting in Baltimore, June 17-20. If your mayor isn't already a cosponsor, contact her / him today!
On Monday, the Week to End the Afghanistan War begins!
CODEPINK is joining 20 national peace and justice organizations to hold Congress accountable for its power of the purse. Next week, the House is going to debate the annual military spending bill and we have several demands:
- End the Afghanistan War immediately, by supporting amendments based on HR 780, the Responsible Withdrawal from Afghanistan Bill and HR 1735, the Afghanistan Exit and Accountability Act.
- Strike the horrific endless war language added as Section 1034, “Affirmation of Armed Conflict with Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and Associated Forces.”
We're planning an all out PINKING OF THE MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX. A national call in day to Congress is scheduled on Tuesday and we'll be updating you via the PinkTank, Twitter, Facebook, and our website.
Plus, our sisters and brothers will be raising their voices for peace in the Middle East with the Move Over AIPAC conference. They'll be outside the capitol on Tuesday to remind Congress that Netanyahu's vision is not a vision of peace.
Remember to contact your mayor to cosponsor the War Dollars Home Resolution, and contact Congress to support HR 780.
onward towards peace with justice,
C.J., Jodie, Janet, Lisa, and the entire War Dollars Home team
