It may seem like a dark day when the House passes a bill that includes support for endless war, endless detention in Guantanamo, and no stop to the Afghanistan War. But don't let the words of a bill that has not been discussed by the Senate - or gone through conference committee - keep you down! Pay closer attention to the mood in Washington. The tide has turned and the war is losing its death grip on our leaders. Like us, many in Congress and the Administration are now asking if we can afford to spend billions to occupy foreign countries when we are slashing domestic programs and increasing the national debt.
Last week, more members of Congress voted against the Afghanistan War than since it first began. Thanks for all your calls, emails and visits to their offices. We are just 11 votes away from bringing the war dollars home to our communities! This was a strong warning to Obama that it is time to end the Afghanistan War, but we must keep the pressure on.
Next week, CODEPINK is joining PDA and National Nurses United (NNU) for their national rally in DC. It's time to tell Washington to Bring Our War Dollars Home for vital needs like universal healthcare!
Tell the Senate to end the war in Afghanistan and support a single-payer healthcare system.
Step by step, people from around the country are demanding that Obama end the Afghan War. Soon, thanks to your encouragement, our mayors will reiterate the demand at their National Conference later this month. Together, we can bring our troops, and our war dollars, home!

PS. Did you see the wild video, now viewed by over 1 million people, of CODEPINKers and others getting violently arrested at the DC Jefferson Memorial last week for silently dancing? Read Medea Benjamin's piece about it.
