2005 Actions

Veterans Day Parade

Photographer Fred Askew, was at the Veterans Day Parade on November 11, 2005, and took photos of the peace contingent as it made its way up Fifth Avenue.

Below is Fred's photo of the "Peace is Patriotic: Honor the Warrior, Not the War" float, with Cindy Sheehan standing in thefront.

Fred sent us the following message:

"It was a blessing to see such a large number of "mom-n-pop Americans" cheering and clapping for the peace contingent as they moved up 5th ave. In the past, the supporters seemed to be mostly young students or obvious lefties.

This year I saw parents holding up their children to the float and even cops clapping as they passed. Hopefully, this country is waking up."
