When: Friday, December 7, 3pm

Where: 1112 16th St. NW, Washington DC, Suite 600

What: On December 4, two U.S. citizens, Medea Benjamin and Tighe Barry, were carjacked and kidnapped in Lahore at gunpoint by Pakistani secret police. They had been in Pakistan for 10 days on a fact-finding mission to learn about and support the pro-democracy movement.

Benjamin and Barry were never charged with any offense and no reason was given for their arrest and involuntary removal from the country without due process. They will reveal the details of their capture and forced removal from the country, and will call on the State Department and Congressional representatives to condemn the Pakistani government’s action. They will also call on the U.S. government to suspend assistance to Pakistan until the rule of law is restored.
