This week long camp is for women of all ages (space is limited so click here to apply today!) Applications for the July camp are now closed- details on the next camp to be posted soon (September, no dates in August planned.)
When: Camp to take place July 16-22, 2006
Participants will be actively rebuilding the affected communities in the New Orleans area, as well as participating in various activist training workshops provided by local and national organizations. The goals are to provide short-term relief for hurricane survivors, support long-term rebuilding efforts in the affected communities, help participants build their capacity as community activists/organizers, and learn what is currently happening in the area.
Activities include: Cleaning neighborhoods/houses, staffing/assisting at distribution centers, meeting with community members/leaders, participate in trainings and organizing strategies.
Join us by supporting the effected communities of New Orleans and then bringing your experiences and skills back to your own community! This will be a wonderful chance to connect with women from around the country, the people of New Orleans and to show your support and solidarity for the rebuilding effort in the Gulf!
If you are interested in participating or have questions please contact Dana@codepinkalert.org or call Dana in New Orleans at (707) 280-9074. Payment can be accepted by check or credit card, ask Dana for details. (She can also give you some tips and suggestions on how to raise money in your community to support your trip!)
