She is the co-author of “Dissent: Voices of Conscience; Government Insiders Speak Out Against the War in Iraq,” which includes a forward by Daniel Ellsberg of Pentagon Papers fame.

Medea Benjamin is a cofounder of both CODEPINK and the international human rights organization Global Exchange. She has been an advocate for social justice for more than 30 years. Medea has distinguished herself as an eloquent and energetic figure in the progressive movement. In 2005 she was one of 1,000 exemplary women from 140 countries nominated to receive the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of the millions of women who do the essential work of peace worldwide. In 2010 she received the Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace Prize from the Fellowship of Reconciliation.

They will be speaking on the U.S. use of drone attacks and the ethical implications and the human cost of this program. They will also speak on foreign policy and the human and economic cost of U.S. wars and occupations on our communities here at home.

The meeting is free and open to the public. Children are welcome. Donations to help cover costs are appreciated.

This event is part of a four-city tour by Ann Wright and Medea Benjamin. Other stops will be in Charlottesville on May 3, Roanoke on May 4 and Richmond on May 5.
