CODEPINK Mother's Day Peace Vigil
Sunday, May 13th 2012  8 - 9:30 PM
Pittsburgh, PA

CODEPINK Mother's Day peace Vigil. CODEPINK Pittsburgh Women for Peace, an international Women's Peace and Social Justice group, dedicated to promoting global peace and ending war, will hold their annual peace vigil on Sunday, May 13th, in Regent Square on the corners of Forbes and Braddock Avenues.

This year's vigil will be dedicated to long time CODEPINK Pittsburgh founder and member Edith Wilson, who passed away December 31st, 2011.

Edith worked tirelessly to promote awareness to close the School of The Americas, and supported the efforts of The Palestinian Solidarity Committee, the Students for Justice In Palestine, and The Thomas Merton Center.

Lee Calhoun, a Codepink member says, "Edith was loved by so many in the peace and social justice community here in Pittsburgh. Edith was a true inspiration to many, and will be missed, but never forgotten."

Friends are encouraged to being their children and celebrate coming together as mothers on this special day by reading the original Mother's Day Proclamation by Julia Ward Howe denouncing war.

An open mic will be available to share thoughts and memories of Edith.

The Raging Grannies will provide music and song, and the vigil will end with participants lighting up the corner with candles to mark this special day.

CODEPINK Pittsburgh Women for Peace, is a Project of The Thomas Merton Center located in Garfield.
