We took a crew to UCLA for a talk about CODEPINK and activism. In the classroom we flashed through slides of eight years of CODEPINK in action, and discussed strategy, tactics and politics. The students were engaged, asking questions about using art and media in the arena political protest. Making the political personal, speaking and acting from ones own experience and heart, was a key element in the day’s talk that took 25 students and four members of CODEPINK outside onto the UCLA campus. Our action included facemasks in the likeness of Bradley Manning and sings made of clothe demanding to “Free Bradley Manning”. Thirty of us strolled the sidewalks that wind through the grassy enclaves of UCLA’s brick buildings. We sang the song written by Fresh Juice for Obama’s speech in San Francisco… Dear Mr. President, we honor you today, sir All of us have given you our tax dollars It takes a lot of Benjamins to run a campaign I paid my dues, where's my change?
