Homeless Veterans in Distress

On Sunday, August 14, CODEPINK joined a group of 20 people from various organizations in front of the West Los Angeles VA hospital to protest the proposed use of the land as a public park; and while we would normally support the idea of a park, this situation is different.

The land was originally deeded to the VA to be used for disabled veterans, yet the VA is not fulfilling that promise.

We distributed fliers and sang and in support of homeless veterans as part of a larger anti-war veterans coalition.

Veteran for peace Ron Kovic spoke as he committed his support to pressuring government agencies to use resources to support people in the US instead of to destroy others outside of it.
