A new Armed Forces "career center" opened up in Greenlawn, Long Island - primarily a minority neighborhood. CODEPINK Long Island was there to "welcome" them to the neighborhood along with the Vets for Peace and the Suffolk Counter Recruitment people. We plan to be there once a month on the fourth Saturday of every month from now on. It was cold, and we got stalked by a woman with "redneck girl" bumper sticker on her car - she watched us and blasted patriotic songs at us from the car so we sang along with them. She left and came back and sat and smoked with her kid in the car and the windows rolled up - NASTY! Mac brought us coffee and donuts and after we were all frozen solid we went across the street and had lunch - may as well support the local merchants while we protest too! | |
